Why Get It Removed?
You’ve worked hard to make your home look beautiful, and those popcorn ceilings are only detracting from the overall look, at least nowadays. They fell out of style a long time ago, and distract from the aesthetic of your home because of it. This is particularly of concern if you’re trying to sell, as many potential homeowners will turn away seeing these types of ceilings. Another worry is of health safety, as asbestos was used to make these ceilings in the 70s, making it all the more important to get rid of them!
What Are They Anyway?
In the 70s and 80s builders installed popcorn ceilings, also known as stucco, for two main reasons. One is that it was an additional layer that would help to further soundproof the rooms. The other is that the texture of it, being small raised spots that are rough looking, hid any imperfections in the ceiling itself. Things like small dents or scratches would go by unnoticed thanks to this texture. However, there are now much more visually pleasing ways to handle these issues.
Fast & Thorough Service
Our professionals will come out on time and get right to work on preparations, such as putting down plastic to protect the room from the dust as well as make clean up much easier later on. We’ll also test to ensure that the ceilings don’t have asbestos beforehand for safety purposes. Depending on whether or not the texture is painted will add a layer of difficulty, as painted texture is harder to remove and will require dry-scraping to do so. If it’s not painted, we’ll use water to dissolve the texture instead. In either case, the substrate beneath will then be filed to be perfectly smooth before it’s primed and then painted to complete the service and leave your ceilings looking beautiful.
